The American Spirit
by Abraham Xiong
From distant lands, we form one nation
From diverse pasts, we forge one future
From delicate beginnings, we live one dream
From different ideas, we share one purpose
In hardship and hunger, we give still to others
In sadness and sorrow, we cry tears of triumph
In trials and tribulations, we overcome with hope
Even in death and dying, we live on as heroes to others
One nation under heaven
One future to live
One dream to share
One purpose for all
Neither hardships or hunger
Not sadness or sorrow
Nor trials and tribulations
Nil death or dying
Nothing can seperate us
Or shred the fiber of who we are
Or what we stand for
Or what we believe in
We are one…
We stand as one…
We are Americans…
United together in one American Spirit

Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund
Matt Krause mkrause@fallenheroesfund.org 646.381.5111
West 46th Street and 12th Ave, New York, New York 10036
The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund was established officially, as an independent
not-for-profit organization in 2003 and top supporter
Richard T. Santulli stepped forward to chair the new organization. Other
top supporters came together to form the
Board of Trustees and they continue to lead and support the Fund today.
Through 2005, the Fund provided close to $20 million to families of United States
military personnel lost in performance of their duty, mostly in service in Iraq
and Afghanistan. The Fund provided unrestricted grants of $11,000 to each spouse
and $5,000 to each dependent child. In addition, Board member E. Roe Stamps personally
funded an additional $1,000 to parents of unmarried service members, as an extension
of that program. All payments were coordinated with the casualty offices of the
Armed Forces, to ensure that all families received these benefits. In 2005 federal
legislation substantially increased the benefits granted to these families. With
the needs of these families now being supported much more substantially, the Fund
turned to the next area of the military community needing help: our wounded warriors.

Helping A Hero
Imagine waking up everyday without one or more of your limbs, with severe burns
or even being paralyzed. For thousands of War on Terror wounded veterans these
new physical realities will be with them for the rest of their lives. These
precious heroes volunteered to serve our country and protect the freedoms we
enjoy each and every day. And because of their sacrifice, we have the
opportunity to run a business, to raise our children and to live in a free
democracy...and even dream about a future of freedom and prosperity.
Helping A Hero is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-partisan organization that enables
all Americans to say "Thank you for your service" to our wounded heroes in a
tangible way. We build specially adapted homes for severely injured military
personnel and their families and adapt these homes for the specific injuries and
challenges of our wounded heroes. For our paraplegics, quadriplegics, and double
amputees, our homes provide roll in showers, wider doors, lower counters, roll
under sinks, adapted toilet area, etc... so our heroes are able to be
independent and do the basic things we all take for granted. For our burn
victims, we work hard for positioning of the home to allow as little light into
the home as possible, we provide extra covered porch areas in the back,
incorporate all known air quality filters, and even include an extra air
conditioning unit so the hero can maintain the temperature in his/her areas of
the home at 68 degrees without forcing all the children to wear winter clothes12
months a year.

Donnie Denny was first runner up in the Oprah Winfrey National Karaoke Sing
Off Contest. Listen to what the viewers said about him. “Donnie Denny is a friend
of mine. His brother-in-law sent the entry in. He is just a down-to-earth country
boy who sings at church and around the neighborhood. He was chosen because he sings
good. No funny business there. Donnie reminds you that not everyone needs technology,
some gifts are directly from above and birth. Wow ! Amazing talent. Donnie made
me cry, what a beautiful song and he sang it so wholeheartedly”.
